Sen. White announces he will not
seek re-election
Says serving the people of District 9 is a privilege; cites family
and business concerns
The first-term lawmaker
was elected in November of 2010 to represent District 9 that
includes
Commenting on his decision, White said, “During my term, I have put
the interests of the voters of District 9 first on a daily basis,
even ahead of my family and my business, and was willing to do so
since the voters gave me the privilege and trust of serving them in
the New Hampshire State Senate. I served during what many have
described as one of the most difficult periods ever, given the bleak
budgetary and economic situation the state faced when I came into
office, and I was willing to stand up and take responsibility for
the very difficult and hotly-debated decisions that had to be made.
I have strived to bring a high-level of energy and intensity around
the pro-business and pro-family issues I campaigned on. However, I
cannot in good conscience make that same commitment for another
term, as it would be unfair to my wife Emily and my sons, Randy and
Justin, who have been greatly impacted by the commitment necessary,
not to mention my business partners and customers, who also have
been so gracious and understanding in my absence.”
He
added, “I am incredibly grateful for the privilege and honor the
amazing people of District 9 have given to me, and would not want to
tarnish that by giving anything less than my all-out best effort,
which I can and will commit to continue for another year. I cannot
make that commitment for another 2 year Senate term, however.”
For the 2011-2012 session, White served as Vice Chairman of the
Commerce Committee and was also a member of Executive Departments &
Administration. During
his first term, he has gained a reputation for his accessibility,
his blunt, plain-spoken honesty, and a tireless work ethic.
He was relied upon for his deep knowledge of insurance and
financial issues. His
warped sense of humor was always on display.
Away
from the state house, White has more than 25 years experience in the
insurance and financial planning industry. He is a Certified
Financial Planner (CFP®) and licensed securities representative,
holding the series 6, 63, 26 and 65 licenses. He holds many
professional designations including CLU, RHU, CASL and the Chartered
Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations. He owns an Employee
